School Meals & Menus
Please note we are a nut-free school.
This means we ask parents to ensure that food they send in for their child does not contain nuts. St Christopher's Trust is currently in the process of finalising an Allergy Policy which has been through a consultation period with parents. This will appear in the 'Policies' section once finalised.
Ordering School Lunches
School lunches must be ordered using the MCAS app. You will be able to order lunches up to 3 weeks in advance, ordering closes at 10pm of the evening prior. All children can bring a packed lunch from home if they prefer.
School meals cost £2.80. If your child is in KS1 or is entitled to Free School Meals, the payment item will be shown as 'Zero £0.00'.
Caterlink Menu
The menu looks very exciting with theme days, freshly baked bread and dietary preferences included within the main menu. As well as the main menu options, jacket potatoes and baguettes will be offered daily.

Personal Menus
Children with allergies and other dietary needs are provided with a personal menu that must be ordered from by selecting 'Personal Menu Option 1' or 'Personal Menu Option 2' on the MCAS app, so that the kitchen can clearly see it is an item from a Personal Menu, not the Standard Menu. If your child has a personal menu, it is saved in 'Reports and Documents' section on MCAS app for you to see. A hard copy has also been printed and will be sent home with your child.
If your child has an allergy and requires a person menu, please:
1. complete the online Food Allergy & Intolerance Form

My child gets a free meal anyway, do I still need to apply?
- Even though all children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 can have a Universal Infant Free Meal everyday, if you meet the criteria to be entitled to Free School Meals, it is important that you secure this status for your child in order to attract the further benefits, even if your child does not want school lunches.
- Devon County Council provide supermarket vouchers, currently £15 per week per child, to cover school holidays. Your child can also access HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programmes for free during school holidays.
- Being eligible for Free School Meals automatically entitles your child to Pupil Premium funding. This attracts further benefits such as help with the cost of school trips and access to extra curricular clubs.
In addition, pupils will be protected against losing their Free School Meals status as follows:
- Since 1 April 2018, all existing Free School Meals claimants have continued to receive Free School Meals whilst Universal Credit is rolled out. This applies even if their earnings rise above the threshold during that time.
- Any pupil gaining eligibility for Free School Meals from 1 April 2018 will be protected against losing Free School Meals until the end of this academic year.
Free School Meals eligibility applies to pupils whose parents are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guarantee element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
A pupil is only eligible for Free School Meals when an application has been made on their behalf and their eligibility, or protected status, has been verified by the school.
