A note from our Head Teacher
Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School.
There are two things I like most about being Head Teacher here:
standing at the gate and greeting every pupil each day; and
the privilege of working with such a receptive and creative staff.
Let me tell you a bit more about our school ...
Our aim
To ensure the best possible outcomes in progress and attainment for every pupil.
Be the best you can be
We ask this of pupils, parents, staff and community alike so that we are truly working together.
Our methods
Providing the highest quality teaching and learning possible.
Our approach to learning
St Leonard's can offer your child and your family a welcoming, open and stimulating learning experience that values the individual. Our curriculum is rich and vibrant, based on the principles of the Cambridge Primary Review and what we as professionals know our learners need to equip them for the future.
It takes a village to raise a child...
St Leonard’s is a large (400 pupils) and growing school. Beginning in 2013 we will increase by 30 pupils (one class each year) to become around 600 pupils in 2020.
We are proud to be the school of choice for many families. We consider ourselves to be a village rather than a village school, working and learning with our community. In a typical week you will see parents, grandparents, church members, the university, sports clubs and more being involved.
Christian values with respect for other faiths
As a Voluntary Controlled Church School (founded by the Bishop of Exeter 200 years ago) we are now maintained by the Local Authority, with a commitment to maintaining its Christian distinctiveness. This means that our values, the way we operate the school and our daily acts of collective worship are all from a Christian viewpoint/perspective, respectful of those who are of different faith or none.
Thank you for visiting our evolving website
I know that in browsing around our site you will get a real sense of who we are. Our galleries are especially visually informative - they show the range and richness of our curriculum, our links with our community and the quality of our play and after school provision. We are working hard to make sure all of our pages provide you with useful information and reflect our busy and productive children!
If you have any further questions then please get in touch.
