Assistant Head Teacher, St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Would you like to work in a vibrant, large city school where we aim to inspire everyone to be the best they can be? St Leonard's C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint an assistant headteacher to a newly created role within the leadership team.

As assistant head you will have responsibility for the development and implementation of our curriculum and provision. This is an exciting role to help shape and lead the future innovation and development of the school going forward. Do you have a strong and clear vision and philosophy for learning and curriculum underpinned by research? Are you passionate about ensuring the best experience for every learner? Your role will be to support the headteacher to improve the quality of teaching, learning and provision within and across the school. You will undertake the role designated safeguarding lead and oversee the development of our school’s curriculum making use of the extensive grounds and our unique location as a strong community in the heart of the city.  This is a non-class based role however a small amount of teaching will be needed.

Salary: £9,952 per annum (£19,698 FTE)

Grade: St Christopher’s Grade 3 – NJC Points 6- 9 (£19,698 – £20,903 per annum FTE)

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday 1:30 – 6pm)

Weeks per Annum: 38

As part of your role, you will be responsible for the academy office team and managing the day to day personnel and premises, together with H&S all under the direction of the pupil services Manager and Head Teacher. You will be able to work with initiative and be able to meet demanding deadlines. We are looking for someone who is personable, well organised, calm and has excellent communication skills. The job will involve extensive prioritising and effective communication within the team. You will be willing to learn new systems and be capable of flexible working in a fast-paced academy environment.

 

The existing post holder (Monday to Wednesday) is on maternity leave until February 2021. Therefore, the successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to undertake additional hours on a temporary basis until her return (Up to an additional 21 hours p/week)

Are you passionate about providing children with a safe and structured mealtime where they can eat and play with their friends. If so, St Leonard's CoE Primary School, based in Exeter, are looking for a 2 Mealtime Assistants to join their team. We are looking for caring individuals who can lead play, interact with the children and undertake the responsibility of supervising and ensuring the safety of the children at all times.

 

We are looking for candidates who are able to work for 2 hours and 15 minutes per day, Monday to Friday (days negotiable as part of a job share, if multiple applicants are interested).

The main duties of the role are:

 

  • Set up the dining hall

  • To set up and lead play activities in the playground;

  • Supervision of all pupils during their meal time and organising the dinner queue

  • To co-ordinate play for pupils;

  • To assist with the well-being of pupils during lunchtime;

  • To support the supervision of children during lunch and play, using your initiative to ensure caring quality provision is continuously made.

 

Experience of working with children is not essential, just the passion to help improve the life chances of children within a school environment whilst being prepared to work inside and outside in all weathers.
