Reading

This year, we have launched home reading records to support the encouragement and celebration of reading between home and school.  Please find time to regularly listen to your child read and also to read stories to your child.  Siblings or other relatives may also enjoy supporting your child this way. Find a time of the day which works for you and helps to make this a positive experience that will help them to grow a love of books.  Fill in the reading record when you hear your child read, and please make sure that their reading record comes back into school the next day.

Your child will start by reading from our Book Band colour scheme, but once they become confident readers, they will choose from numbered books in our Accelerated Reader programme.  They will be visiting the school library weekly, and should be bringing home a book band or numbered book to read with you, as well has having one to read in school.

Sometimes it's nice to read something else too, and below is a link to some suggestions which you can usually borrow from Exeter library.

100 books for year 3 and year 4
