School Closure Update and Parent Survey
5th January 2021
Thank you so very much for your support today – in keeping so many children at home, it will enable the staff to plan effectively for the days ahead. I am so grateful.
We now need to find out and prioritise who requires a school place. The Government has directed us to offer places to children of critical workers in the fight against Covid-19 and those who qualify under the category that they have deemed as vulnerable. Here is a link that explains these two definitions for you to check if you qualify. Should you qualify, it is still your decision if you want a school place, you do not have to request one. Please bear in mind that we may need to ask for evidence of your critical worker status. Please also note, the Government wants all vulnerable children to attend school wherever possible.
Here is the link to the questionnaire, which we are asking you to complete as soon as possible.
We will confirm by email today, by 7pm at the latest, if you have been allocated a place from tomorrow. We recognise that there will be a small number of families who may not be able to read this email due to work commitments until this evening, please do not worry.
Tomorrow, there will be some remote learning available on Microsoft Teams (Tapestry for Foundation) to keep your children busy this week. All children from Y1-6 have been practicing in school how to log on and access the work there. As a staff team, we are going to be working incredibly hard to ensure that by Monday, the remote learning provision is of high quality and engaging for your children. If you have no way of accessing Microsoft Teams and need a pack of printed work, please contact the school office via email (email@example.com) to request it.
By the end of the school day, the teachers will have recorded a video message for your child to watch which will be posted on the school blog as well as on Teams.
Please be reassured that technical support will be available and there will be more details of remote learning to follow this week.
I feel really sad that we are in this situation and will miss seeing you all each day. However, I do believe in our team here at St Leonard’s and that we will all do our very best to support your wonderful children through this challenging time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
