Help with Remote Learning

The adventure of 'remote learning' is new for many, 'unchartered' for some but for all it is certainly a learning experience. It is made up of so many different variables such as experience and confidence of the user through to the variety of devices that are used.

 

We are committed to supporting you as best we can and will update this page regularly with new videos, problem solving tips and important updates as the remote learning adventure continues!

 

If you are unable to solve your problem by watching the videos or reading the help below please email Mr M here and he will be able to support you directly. This will not always be straight away but will be as soon as his teaching schedule allows.

Frequently asked questions:

 

Q: Why does the link to my learning not work in the 'Teams' app? (Link to a 'Stream' video or a 'Word' document)

 

A: On some devices, the Teams app will not automatically send you to another one of your child's 365 'apps' and open the file. The most secure place to be able to access all of the apps and where the links are most universally consistent is to type login.microsoftonline.com into the 'Chrome' browser on your device.

 

Q: What is the combination for my child's email address?

 

A: firstname.surname@pup.stcmat.org

 

Q: There are so many different apps it seems I can use - which should I choose?

 

A: Your child's work will be set inside Microsoft TEAMS. You can either access the learning directly via the TEAMS app or by the trusted access point login.microsoftonline.com 

 

Q: My child has been set work in 'WORD' but I'm not sure if we have access to this app?

 

A: All of the children have access to the staple apps of the Microsoft 365 suite inc Powerpoint, Word, Excel and their work is 'saved' in their 'One Drive' as they hand it in. When you are logged in to your microsoft account, you can see the apps and explore them by clicking on the box made up of 9 dots in the top left hand corner of your screen once you are signed in.

 

Q: We only have one device in the home - what if my child is not able to get on to TEAMS at the same time as other children?

 

A: We are setting our work with pre-recorded 'live' lessons and asignments so that your child is able to access the learning at whatever point in the day the device becomes available for them to use.
