28th May 2021 - ‪So lovely to see all our foundation children engaging in role play. As Maria Montessori said, “Play is the work of children”. Stand back and observe all areas of the curriculum in action! ‬

17th May 2021 - Weekly Overview

14th May 2021 - When I grow up.... This week EYFS have been thinking about the lives of the people around us and their roles in society. We’ve enjoyed lots of role play and dressing up. We talked about the jobs in the stories we listened to, and then discussed what we would like to be when we grow up.

26th April 2021 - Weekly Overview

April 19th 2021 - EYFS have been looking at spring flowers. We made observational drawings with oil pastels, pencils and watercolours. We started mixing primary colours to match some of our flower colours. We will explore this more next week. Our words of the week were "observe" and “bouquet" 💐

26th March 2021 - EYFs enjoyed a special unicorn day. We aimed to inspire as much independent writing as possible. We told unicorn stories and adapted songs. Our unicorns helped us with subtraction. We made unicorn tails and horns. Even our playground turned into a magical unicorn land! 🦄 🌈

15th January 2021 - Supporting remote learning. Weekly Overview (Julia Donaldson & On the Farm)

We are supporting remote learning for EYFS children through our online learning app, Tapestry. If you have any problems accessing our lessons, please email or phone our admin team.Thank you for all your support and the amazing work the children are doing so far. We are so proud of everyone!

We have tweaked out provision a bit for next week, hoping to make things more accessible for you, and in response to our survey results. Here is a suggested timetable for you to follow at home, though please adapt this to fit your own circumstances. Each lesson will have either a yellow or white front cover. The yellow lessons are ones to prioritise, and the white ones are optional extras. Please remember that when we are teaching EYFS in school, a lot of the day follows a play based approach, both inside and outside. The children learn so much through free play, putting all the things they have been taught into practice and helping to cement these ideas.

We really do appreciate that so many of you are juggling jobs, children, shared laptops, etc. Please keep messaging us in whichever format is easiest for you and let us know if we need to tweak our provision for your family. We will do what we can.

5th January 2021 - We have prepared a short video for each class to let our children know how important they are to us and that we are thinking of them in these unusual times. We are working hard to get all our exciting home learning ready and will be sharing this with families via Tapestry, our on line learning journal.

11th December 2020 - It's all about the nativity! We hope you enjoy our class nativity plays as much as we enjoyed making them. Sing along if you know the words! :)

Merry Christmas to all our families and friends!

4th December 2020 - The Foundation children were turned into robots this week. This helped us with our segmenting and blending skills. (Eg. “I see a c-a-t”) We put on an outdoor robot exhibition after school for our families to enjoy. 🤖🤖🤖

24th November 2020 - Characteristics of Effective Learning in action in EYFS: Ladybirds spent the afternoon problem solving. Working in teams we made dens for story time. We constantly checked how well the dens were progressing, changing strategy as needed and we reviewed what worked well and what we will change next time! 🌟

20th November 2020 - Foundation have been learning about seasonal change. We prepared ourselves to keep warm outside, then explored the woodland. We finished with some songs and cocoa around the camp fire! 🔥 ☕️

13th November 2020 - We have been thinking about Remembrance Day this week.We joined the whole school Remembrance Service via a Teams meeting, and we are so proud of how well the children sat for our minutes silence. The children made some large poppies for our classrooms and individual ones to keep. On Friday we had fun coming into school in dressing up clothes or non uniform to raise money for Children in Need. We had several dinosaurs, princesses and super heroes!

2nd November 2020 - Autumn. We have been looking at all of the changes which are taking place around school now that it is autumn. We have made some happiness trees in our classrooms.

18th October 2020 - Our Growing Together Tree. We are very proud of our tree which we made together using our hand prints. We want to see how much bigger our hands will be by the end of this year. We think the Foundation Corridor is looking fabulous. Are you ready to come on our adventures with us? Where shall we go first?

4th October - 2020. We are coming to the end of our baseline assessments. We are so impressed with how well the children have settled into their new routines, have made friends and are learning our school values. They have been learning how to play kindly, share resources, talk and listen to friends and to respect their classroom. Great job Foundation!

September 2020 - We are very proud of our outside area, which the teacher's updated over the summer holiday. The children can't wait to get outside and are happy to go out in all weathers.
